Abstract

Since January 2007, City University of Hong Kong has been running Stage Two of an ‘Electronic Learning Portfolio’ project focusing on the integration of ePortfolios within activities and courses of different disciplines covering 1000 undergraduates. ePortfolio content analysis revealed students encountering difficulties with certain dimensions of reflective thinking prompting the project investigators to create techniques for scaffolding student reflection. Further insights include the notion of a ‘generic-structure’ for ePortfolios and a roadmap for university success. Two sentence summary:This paper briefly outlines an 18-month Electronic Learning Portfolio project involving 1000 students and discusses the implication of findings that suggest students need specific help with scaffolding their reflection and with planning their developmental journey through university. http://www.nmc.org/member-conference-event/improving-university-teaching
