Abstract

The single nanoribbon laser model which enabled the correlation between size/morphology/structure and photoluminescence (PL) characteristics were investigated. The PL characteristics of optically pumped individual single-crystal zinc-sulfide nanoribbons were also measured. The nanoribbons form excellent optical cavities and gain medium with high lasing modes for low pumping power density of 9 kW/cm2 which was experimentally proved by small collection angle measurements. The results of large collection angles show broad PL component which provided high-quality lasing nanowires/nanoribbons.
