Abstract
Flexibility and versatility were the key factors evident in the textile machinery on show at ATME-1 2001. More productive machines featuring less wastage were noticeable changes with simplified mechanics and more on-line electronics. The importance of Computer Support Services is emphasised. Five types of weaving machine were exhibited - Air jet, water jet, rapier, projectile and multiphase as well as needle looms for narrow fabrics. Manufacturers whose latest systems are described include Toyota, Tsudakoma, Picanol, Dornier, Staubli, Somet, Vamatex, Sulzer Textil, Toyoda Automatic Loom Works and Van de Wiele. Seamless knitting was an important issue in the knitting sector. Santoni, Monarch, Jakob Muller, Pai Lung, Mayer Industries, Keumyong Liba and Comez were all represented. Other fabric formation-related machines were exhibited by West Point Foundry and Machine Co, Eltex, Staubli, Bonas Machine Co, Luwa Bahnson and Roj Electrotex. Many of these developments are illustrated.
