Abstract

The traditional derivation methods for Active Neutral-Point-Clamped (ANPC) inverter topologies are often highly dependent on expert experience, involving complex and time-consuming processes. To address these limitations, the paper proposes a reverse method: decomposing inverter operating modes into sub-modes, then merging them via predefined switch configuration rules and merging strategies, aiming to generate a large number of functionally equivalent topologies with consistent operating modes. This method offers a larger optimization search space for topologies with the same function and consistent operating modes, facilitates the further construction of topology datasets, and lays a foundation for future data-driven power electronics research. © 2026 IEEJ-IAS.
