Abstract

Bilateral macular lesions in the retinae of a monkey cause it to misreach for several days. The proportion of misreaches and the recovery time depend upon the size of the lesion. The peripheral retina must provide the information used in directing reaching responses after recovery. This finding implies that there can be directional reorganization of visuomoter coordination. © 1968.
