Abstract
A new method of coordinate measurement, geometric modeling and polishing path for the shell of big glass cover is proposed. A system of automatic measurement based on robot is designed by employing structured light in the paper. By means of the method of local surface fitting, the orderly data points on sectional plane are obtained. Then the disorderly scatter points become orderly array points, an accurate and smooth fitting surface is implemented. At the last, the polishing path is generated for reconstructed surface by using the method of isoparametric curve. The experiment demonstrated that the proposed method highly adapts to freeform surface reconstruction for wrap-around models. Copyright © 2006 Frontiers of Design and Manufacturing.
