Abstract

A lip contour extraction algorithm based on a deformable geometric model is proposed. The algorithm employs a stochastic cost function to find an optimum partition of an image into lip and non-lip regions such that the joint probability of the two regions is maximized. Experiments show that robust lip contour extraction from colour lip images is possible.
