Abstract

In this chapter, we will continue our journey to introduce recent advancements of searchable encryption on functionality and performance. We will first show how to construct a dynamic searchable symmetric encryption, i.e., supporting data insertions, deletions, and updates in Sect. 4.1. After that, we will extend our scope to other common functionalities, i.e., multi-user supports in Sect. 4.2 and Boolean queries over encrypted data in Sect. 4.3. Next, Sect. 4.4 will discuss some practical optimizations to SSE schemes to an appropriate depth. Finally, some selected in-depth and distinguished readings will be given in Sect. 4.5. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
