Rapid calculation of the pressures and clearances in rough, elastohydrodynamically lubricated contacts under pure rolling. Part 2: General roughness

Research output: Journal Publications and ReviewsRGC 21 - Publication in refereed journalpeer-review

    Abstract

The preceding part of this paper derived expressions for the effect of low amplitude, sinusoidal roughness in rolling, elastohydrodynamic contacts. This part outlines how these can be used to estimate the pressures and clearances in general rough conjunctions. Results for a variety of surface roughnesses are compared with published experimental results and with results from elastohydrodynamically lubricated solvers. © IMechE 2006.
