Abstract
This paper presents a wideband slot antenna with a compact ground. The ground has the same length as the slot length, and two inductors are loaded as the both ends of the open slot for further size reduction. The impedance of the slot radiator is investigated to study the ground size effect. Obtained results show the impedance at 1-λ resonant mode is constant within a wide frequency band. Then, 1-λ resonant mode is excited to achieve a wide bandwidth. This antenna is fed by a short-end microstrip line, which is simple. The simulated results show the proposed antenna has a wide impedance bandwidth of 1.39-3.37 GHz (1.98 GHz, 83.2%).
