Abstract
Dilatation measurements conducted on a Zr-Ti-Cu-Ni-Be bulk metallic glass to obtain the information about the average pair potential in the five component alloy were presented. The alloy was remelted in a quartz tube followed by water quenching and the dilatation measurements were carried out using a conventional compression dilatometer. By assuming a Lannard-Jones potential, the effective depth of the pair potential and the average nearest-neighbor distance were found to be 0.32 nm and 0.23 eV respectively.
