Abstract

A low profile monopolar patch antenna with conical beam radiation pattern and high gain performance is presented in this paper. The antenna has a simple structure which consists of a monopolar patch, a ground and a set of shorting pins. To enhance the gain performance, the antenna is designed to operate with TM03 mode and TM04 mode. The proposed antenna operates from 2.41 to 2.51 GHz for the VSWR ≤ 2 and has the maximum gain of 11 dBi. Most important, the antenna is low profile which only has the height of 0.03λ0.
