Abstract

The traditional methods of teaching in science courses, including of traditional lectures and laboratory exercises, are lack of attraction and seriously affect the intended learning outcome of a particular course. In order to improve the intended learning outcome, it is necessary and inevitable to adopt scientific teaching. In this study, the effectiveness of scientific teaching has been illustrated based on a general education (GE) course "Science in Chinese Kung Fu". Compared with traditional education, teachers in our GE course contribute more effort to inspire students other than simple implantation of knowledge. This study also intends to contribute to our understanding on scientific teaching for the discovery-enriched curriculum by focusing on effective instructional methods, which have received great response from students that includes group presentations and discussions in lectures and interactive classroom activities.
