Instability of boundary layer in the presence of weak distributed surface suction

Linear stability analysis of laminar boundary layer modified by infinitesimally small distributed surface suction has been carried out. Explicit calculations have been carried out in the case of two-dimensional, constant pressure boundary layer. The available results show that stability characteristics of the flow can be changed only when the surface suction has the form of traveling waves that are in resonance or in near resonance with the neutral Tollmien-Schlichting waves.
