Abstract
Novel europium complexes were synthesized and incorporated into EL devices. As such, the complexes did not show any sizable emission from the ligands indicating that there was efficient energy transfer from the excited state of the ligands into the metal core. By selecting a polymer host whose emission spectra have better overlap with the absorption bands of the metal, an increase in the efficiency of the devices as well as improving maximum brightness was shown.
