Abstract

In this paper, a meta-heuristic algorithm is presented in order to obtain an undirected and unweighted network with better synchronizability. Recognizing that the eigenratio of the Laplacian matrix of a network can serve as a good measure for synchronizability, it is used to guide the search in the algorithm. The numerical simulations show that the proposed algorithm is capable of significantly improving the synchronizability with any initial network topology. The proposed algorithm is also found to be comparable to other existing methodologies and even outperform them if the initial network is with the small-world topology. © 2012 IEEE.
