Abstract
This paper presents a dualband transparent hollow hemispherical dielectric res- onator antenna (DRA) functioning as a light cover. The dualband DRA is excited by a coaxial- cable-fed aperture. The lower and upper bands of the antenna can cover the IEEE 802.11b WLAN band (2.4-2.48 GHz) and IEEE 802.11a WLAN band (5.15-5.35 GHz), respectively. AN- SYS HFSS was used to simulate the reflection coefficient, radiation pattern, and gain of the antenna. Measurements were carried out to verify the simulations and reasonable agreement between them is obtained. Results of using the transparent DRA as a light cover are reported.
