Abstract
The late behavior of bubbles at unstable interfaces plays a crucial role in chaotic interfacial fluid mixing. Several theoretical studies are based on potential flow models with or without a point source in the velocity potential. Our main purpose in this paper is to determine whether these models give the same predictions for the late time behavior of bubbles at unstable interfaces. We show that the predictions from these two models (with and without a point source) are qualitatively the same, but quantitatively different. © 2001 American Institute of Physics.
