Abstract

An omnidirectional aesthetic dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is investigated. The DRA, bought from the commercial market, is made of K-9 glass and is therefore transparent. It has a building shape and can be used for home or office decoration. To obtain an omnidirectional radiation pattern, the DRA is excited by a probe at the center of its bottom. The reflection coefficient, radiation pattern, and antenna gain of the antenna were measured, and a wide impedance bandwidth of 36.5 % is found. © 2012 IEEE.
