Abstract

The differences in implementation of ERP in state owned enterprises (SOE) and private ventures (PV) in China are discussed. It is found that the Chinese organizations implementing ERP often reorganized task responsibilities and/or inventory levels. It is observed that no SOE project aimed to generate revenue sources or achieve end-to-end supply chain management. The ERP implementations were faster in PVs compared to SOE and the SOE had comparatively more data maintenance problems after adopting the ERP systems.
