Abstract
To deal with rapid increase in multimedia traffic in the Internet, some form of congestion control that is TCP-friendly is required. Congestion control strategies can be classified as equation-based or AIMD-based, but they are typically evaluated only for wired networks. In this paper the TCP-friendliness and other performance metrics of AIMD-based congestion control in a wireless network are evaluated using simulation. It is found that AIMD(0.4, 0.875) provides the best overall performance.
