Abstract
We demonstrate a reconfigurable composite GeTe-metal patch antenna operating at the millimeter-waves (24- 30 GHz) whose resonant frequency can be tuned and repeatedly changed upon the application of successive laser pulses. To explain the phenomenon, the optical switching of the GeTe phase change material between its insulated and conductive states using 30-ns short single UV laser pulses will be presented. In this framework, the material has been integrated in high-frequency switches which can be optically switched between their ON and OFF-states in a bi-stable manner on large frequency bands, up to 67 GHz.
