Abstract
A new form of millimeter wave antenna element by embedding a vertical patch antenna into a microwave substrate is presented. The antenna is fed by the special grounded CPW/microstrip/printed ring combination. An air cavity is employed to enhance the antenna gain. The designed antenna is ease of fabrication and the simple in structure. It has an impedance bandwidth of 26% (28.4GHz to 37GHz) and with an average gain of 7.9dBi with stable radiation patterns across the operating bandwidth. © 2010 IEEE.
