Abstract
This research is to assess the perceptions of business faculty regarding the importance of recent relevant practical experience and to explore options for obtaining relevant practical experience. Survey result shows that business faculty in Hong Kong generally think that faculty practical experience plays an important role in teaching and in improving image of the school in the business community. However, in personnel decisions, little weight is placed on practical experience. In addition, the gap between desired opportunity and actual opportunity of practical experience should not be ignored as this gap could lead to discontent among educators.
