Abstract
This survey study investigates environmental engagement among US citizens, focusing on their opinion leadership qualities and Twitter use. We find a significant effect of opinion leadership on environmental engagement, mediated by Twitter use and psychological variables, such as environmental knowledge and environmental interest. In addition, we examine whether these indirect effects of psychological variables on environmental participation are contingent on individuals’ Twitter use.
