Abstract

The purpose of this paper is two-fold. Firstly, we point out a prevailing unsatisfactory treatment of the center-of-gravity (COG) method in many contemporary operations management textbooks. Secondly, a simulation study is conducted to assess the quality of the COG as an approximate solution to the Euclidean mini-sum single facility location problem.
