Abstract
This paper analyzes the market dynamics for a digital product that follows a Bass-type diffusionprocess. We study the strategic interaction between dynamic pricing and product diffusionthrough two prevailing channels: the business-to-consumer online storefront (the B2C channel)and the peer-to-peer offline transaction (the P2P channel). Optimal pricing strategies andchannel structures are identified. We provide several practical implications to address thechannel tradeoff in distributing digital contents.
