Abstract
An omnidirectional cylindrical ring DRA is investigated for 5.8-GHz WLAN applications. It is excited in its higher-order TM015 mode to enhance the antenna gain. For demonstration, a prototype was designed and fabricated. The reflection coefficient, antenna gain, antenna efficiency, and radiation pattern are studied, and reasonable agreement between the measurement and simulation is found.
