Abstract

Sol-gel nano titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin film coated on glass substrate can be activated by the ultraviolet (UV) light available in sunlight to perform solar photocatalytic air purification. The useful spectral range can be extended from UV to visible light when the TiO2 photocatalyst is implanted with chromium (Cr) ion. Therefore, the solar UV and visible light can be better utilized to enhance the solar photocatalysis. The main objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of visible light irradiated TiO 2/Cr-coated glass plate on degradation of formaldehyde vapor for air purification. The experimental studies and parametric correlation of visible-light photocatalytic air purification are presented in this paper.
