Abstract
Besides possessing large amount of petroleum, another factor that can determine the wealth of a nation is the well-established financial system. Recently, financial system has taken a great stride forward in making use of modern information technology, i.e. FinTech. One of the most important FinTech is the electronic payment systems particular mobile payment systems. Before we can perform any risk assessment of such FinTech, we have to “know ourselves” by understanding our weaknesses and “know our enemies” by understanding how our enemies attack us. This paper discusses and critically analyses one of the most popular mobile payment systems – Visa payWave which has the largest market share in mobile payment systems. Focuses are on security risks, operational efficiency, flexibility and auditability concerns.
