Abstract

We propose a low-complexity dual-diagonal (DD-) linear-minimum-mean-square- error (LMMSE) channel estimation algorithm for orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems involving iterative channel estimation and signal detection. Computational complexity and mean-square-error (MSE) analysis are presented to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm. A closed-form expression is derived for the asymptotic MSE of the DD-LMMSE channel estimator. Both analysis and numerical results show that DD-LMMSE performs close to the well-known LMMSE estimator with much lower complexity. © 1991-2012 IEEE.
