Abstract

Random bit generation is experimentally demonstrated at 30 Gbps using a semiconductor laser diode subject to optical injection with low-bandwidth electronics. Optical chaos is generated from optical injection and inherently possesses no undesirable time-delay signatures. The experimental time series obtained is analyzed for estimating the entropy contained in the digitized chaotic waveform. © 2013 IEEE.
