Abstract
This paper introduces a polarization reconfigurable antenna. The antenna is excited by a 3D meandering probe-fed and reconfigured by PIN diodes. By controlling the PIN diodes on the feed structure, the left hand or right hand circular polarization reconfigurable characteristic can be obtained. The proposed antenna achieves the impedance bandwidth of 15% and the AR bandwidth of 11%. The average gain within the operating bandwidth is 6.7 dBic with less than 0.5 dB variation. This work demonstrates a bandwidth broadening technique of an M-probe fed CP with reconfigurable characteristic. The potential applications of the antenna are 5G Wi-Fi and satellite communication systems.
