Abstract
Treatment of C60 with stoichiometric amounts of both [Cp*Ru(μ-H)2]2 and [Cp*RuCl2]2 produced Cp*2-Ru2(μ-H)(μ-Cl)(C60) (2), which contains a Ru2 fragment bound to two conjugated C—C π-bonds. The related C60 derivative Cp*2Ru2(μ-Cl2)(C60) (3) was obtained by using 2 equiv of [Cp*RuCl2]2. Formation of a transient cationic species [Cp*RuC60]+ is suggested on the basis of FAB mass analysis of 2 and 3.
