Abstract
In this paper, a 6×6 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) microstrip antenna (MA) array with port and radiation pattern decoupling characteristics is presented. Shorting vias are used to introduce extra anti-phase coupling currents, which can cancel the original coupling currents and obtain the decoupling effects. The slots in the ground is further introduced to improve the port isolations. To verify the presented decoupling method, a sample is designed at 4.9 GHz. The radiation patterns of the antenna elements are all along the broadside direction and have good consistency. All results verify the scalability of the presented decoupling method in two-dimensional antenna arrays. © 2025 IEEE.
