Abstract

AS a Confucian heritage society, Hong Kong is now confronting the weakening of its cornerstone, the family, for provision of care for the elderly. Over recent decades Hong Kong has been transformed from a small fishing village and trading port in south China to an international financial center at a pace and scale that are legendary.
