Abstract

The characteristics of polymer long perioid waveguide gratings (LPWGs) are studied. The effects of cladding refractive index and thickness, as well as external medium refractive index and temperature, have been investigated. The results show that the performances can be optimized, and LPWGs are attractive sensor elements.
