Abstract

A polarization-independent vertically coupled microring resonator filter is proposed using a birefringent polymer overlay. The thickness of the polymer overlay is optimally designed and the polarization-independent operation is shown. The measured resonant wavelengths for the TE and TM polarizations are demonstrated.
