Abstract

The long-period fiber gratings (LPFG) were utilized to compensate for the polarization sensitivity of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier's (EDFA) equalized gain spectrum. The technique restored EDFA gain spectrum after the upset from state of polarization (SOP) fluctuations. The notch dips were made stronger during fabrication by excimer laser pulse energy and exposure time. An increase in the birefringence of the LPFGs resulted in an improvement in the performance.
