Abstract
Perovskite quantum wires (PQWs) are a class of materials with exceptional optoelectronic properties that can be made using a variety of techniques, including solution processing and vapor-phase epitaxy. They have a wide range of potential applications in a variety of technological fields. This review article examines their fundamental characteristics, which support their wide range of applications and include tunable bandgaps, lengthy carrier lifetimes, and high carrier mobility. PQWs improve solar cell efficiency, are useful in photodetectors (PDs), light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and solid-state lighting applications, enable advanced sensing capabilities thanks to their high surface-to-volume ratio, contribute to resistive random-access memory devices (RRAM) with their resistive switching behavior, and support specialized applications like polarized light detectors and nanolasers, promising advancements in communication and quantum optics. PQWs stand out as a flexible and influential field with significant potential for revolutionizing a wide range of technologies, despite ongoing issues with stability and environmental concerns. These difficulties are being addressed by ongoing research projects, which will help PQWs fulfill their potential in a variety of applications. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd
