Abstract
In this ethnographic-style case study of EFL candidates taking GRE writing tests, interview data and practice essays are collected to investigate their perceptions of and difficulties in GRE writing and to understand their strategies. Implications for GRE test designers, admission officers for US universities and language teachers are discussed.
