Abstract
This paper provides a parametric study of a static magnetic field (SMF) to the cell viability. Four types of human cells were selected for exposure to SMF with different durations and levels of intensity in our experiment. The cell viability was investigated by comparing the viable cell count with the control groups; flow cytometry was adopted for cell apoptosis test in our experiment. An intensity of 0.25mT, 0.5mT, and 1mT exposure with 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours were examined for chronical low level static field exposure. The outcome of the experiment has indicated that the SMF can influence the rate of cell viability. It is concluded that there is no significant variation for the 0.25mT and 0.5mT, while at 1mT the cell apoptosis is obvious with a p-value of less than 0.05 at a confidence interval of 95%. Our multivariable parametric study was confirmed by linear regression analysis in Stata.
