Platform as a Service, which is the core application of cloud computing technologies, has got much attention as well. In this article, from the basic concept of PaaS, we analyze the basic characteristics of PaaS, and describe the current research status. Also we've discussed the future trends of Information Technology platforms. Then, we conclude the models of application developing based on PaaS. Finally, we've brought out the key technologies when realizing a PaaS platform. © 2010 IEEE.
