Abstract
This article presents a case study of using self-cognizant prognostics for the management of three key areas in a nursing home where a substantial proportion of power consumption is spent in a typical nursing home environment. Using a power-efficient monitoring system, our case study covers smart lighting, air conditioning and meal preparation; which is aimed at reducing the cost of operation through more efficient use of energy with smart and assistive technologies. The results show an overall enhancement of approximately 10% in energy efficiency while offering a safe environment for elderly patients in a smart nursing home.
