Abstract
Application of power to gas (P2G) technique promotes coupling between power system and natural gas system concerned, and hence bidirectional energy flow between these two systems can be implemented. P2G technique provides an alternative solution for optimal operation of energy hubs with multiple kinds of energy included and intermittent renewable energy accommodation. Given this background, optimal dispatch of combined electricity-gas-heat energy systems with P2G devices and benefit analysis of wind power accommodation are addressed. Firstly, P2G technique and energy hub concept are introduced. Secondly, an optimization model for multi-energy system operation is presented with characteristics of P2G devices, power and natural gas systems taken into account, and solved with AMPL/IPOPT solver. Finally, a sample multi-energy system is employed to demonstrate the model, and P2G benefits in promoting wind power accommodation are discussed. © 2016, Power System Technology Press.
