On the invariance of the MEI to the field of excitation

Abstract

By considering the classical problem of electromagnetic scattering of a circular conducting cylinder, the invariance of the Measured Equation of Invariance is examined analytically. Using the asymptotic expansion of the Hankel function of second kind, Hn (2) (kρ), the case of an electrically large cylinder is studied. It is shown that by truncating all the terms of the expansion with order higher than 1/(kρ)2, the MEI coefficients are invariant to the field of excitation.
