Abstract

The concentration effect of solute in a steam generator tube-support-plate crevice, which is packed with porous corrosion products, is modelled by incorporating diffusion, convection, steam void formation and boiling point elevation under both constant heat flux and constant superheated wall conditions. A time-dependent partial differential-integral equation for solute transport in the crevice is derived. Steady-state solutions for several kinds of boundary conditions have been obtained. Limiting cases are examined and discussed. Three nondimensional parameters controlling the concentration extent have been identified.
