Abstract

The circularly polarized cross-slot-coupled hemi-ellipsoidal dielectric resonator antenna (HEDRA) is studied in this letter. Reasonable agreement between simulation and measurement is obtained. A HEDRA is demonstrated, which has a 10-dB impedance bandwidth ( S11 <-10 dB) of 15.4% and a 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of 3.9%. The characteristics of the HEDRA are found. In addition, a comparison between the straight- and cross-slot feeds is made in this letter. ©2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
