Abstract
An efficient and flexible computer-aided design (CAD) tool is developed for the analysis of proximity-coupled microstrip antennas. The RWG triangular discretization in conjunction with a mixed-potential integral equation formulation is adopted for geometrical modeling flexibility. The required spatial-domain Green's functions for the magnetic vector potential and electric scalar potential are obtained by using the complex image method. The implementation of the RWG discretization with the complex image method and its subsequent extension to multilayered structures are adopted for the analysis of the proximity-coupled microstrip antenna with a slot. Due to the flexibility of the RWG discretization, the CAD tool can analyze any patch and slot geometry.
