Abstract

A proposed hybrid modulator structure reduces both the optical loss and half wave voltage (Vπ). A sol-gel waveguide core transversely sandwiched between electro-optic (EO) polymer cores without Y-branches to enable an adiabatic transition with higher mode confinement.
